Daylight-Saving Time Change Patch

As an energy-saving measure the Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended daylight-saving time (DST) by three weeks in the spring and one week in the fall. In 2007, the first year of this change, daylight-saving time starts at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 11. The display time on your BlackBerry® device will be one hour behind for the first three weeks of DST beginning on Sunday March 11, if a software patch is not run on the device, or if the time is not manually changed.

How to apply the patch to your device

The patch can be downloaded wirelessly from your BlackBerry device by doing the following:

  1. On the BlackBerry device, select Internet Browser.
  2. Click the trackwheel and select Go To...
  3. In the Go To: field key in www.blackberry.com/dst2007
  4. Click the track-wheel and select OK.
  5. Select North America, click the track-wheel and choose Get Link.
  6. Follow the prompts to download and run the patch.
  7. If prompted, reset the device. The reset could take five to twenty minutes.

NOTE: If you are using a corporate BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, please check with your internal IT staff regarding their DST plans.
