SouthernLINC Wireless is proud to sponsor four major golf events – the Regions Charity Classic, the Navistar LPGA Classic, the Bell Micro LPGA Classic and the South Georgia Classic.
“The best players in men’s and women’s professional golf are traveling to the Southeast to compete on some of the most spectacular courses in Georgia and Alabama,” said Bob Dawson, president and CEO, SouthernLINC Wireless. “SouthernLINC Wireless is proud to continue our support of PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events.”
The Regions Charity Classic – an official event of the PGA Tour’s Champions Tour – will be held May 13-17 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Ross Bridge in Hoover, Ala. A field of 78 Champions Tour pros, including defending champion Andy Bean, Tom Kite, Lee Travino, 2008 runner-up Loren Roberts and Nick Price, who grabbed his long-awaited first tour victory April 19, are slated to compete for the tournament’s $1.7 million purse.
A number of celebrities, including NBA legend Charles Barkley, University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban, country music star Vince Gill, University of South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier and “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks, are also scheduled to participate in one of the two Pro-Am competitions held earlier in the week. More details can be found at www.regionscharityclassic.com.
Fall brings cooler weather and the LPGA Tour to the Southeast. For the second consecutive year, SouthernLINC Wireless is supporting the Navistar LPGA Classic. A full field of players, including defending champion Lorena Ochoa of Mexico, is expected to return to compete in Prattville, Ala., from Sept. 24 through Oct. 4. “These professional golf events expose a global audience to some of the finest communities in Alabama and Georgia, and given our commitment to our Southern neighbors, SouthernLINC Wireless is proud to continue sponsoring these tournaments,” Dawson added.
In April, the third annual South Georgia Classic was held at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga. This event has emerged as a marquee event on the PGA Tour’s Nationwide Tour. An estimated 80 million viewers worldwide were projected to tune in to the tournament, broadcast by the Golf Channel. Please visit www.southgeorgiaclassic.com for information and results.
Finally, SouthernLINC Wireless is sponsoring the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile, Ala. Originally scheduled for October 2009, the event was shifted to April 2010 because the course – the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove – is undergoing a complete redesign and renovation. Please visit www.bellmicrolpgaclassic.com for updates on the course transformation and additional tournament information.
