SouthernLINC Wireless Calls on Southern Heroes
Wireless carrier to honor outstanding citizens in the South
ATLANTA – June 28, 2007 – SouthernLINC Wireless®, a Southern Company (NYSE: SO), is seeking nominations for its fourth annual Southern Heroes program.
SouthernLINC Wireless will honor three individuals in the Southeast who go above and beyond to give back to their communities. The company will organize recognition ceremonies in each of the honorees’ hometowns to publicly acknowledge their achievements. In addition, SouthernLINC Wireless will donate $1,000 to the non-profit organization of each hero’s choice.
“There are countless untold stories of everyday citizens in the South doing extraordinary things for the betterment of others and their communities,” said Bob Dawson, CEO and president of SouthernLINC Wireless. “The goal of our Southern Heroes program is to recognize some of those unsung heroes and simply say ‘thank you’ for being caring individuals.”
To nominate a Southern Hero, log on to www.southernheroes.com and submit the short online entry form between July 2 and August 31, 2007. The Southern Heroes will be announced on September 24, 2007.
Southern Heroes are everyday people - anyone whose efforts help others and improve our communities - should be in the running. Last year’s honorees represented the best of “everyday heroism”, including a young woman from Winder, Ga. who works with children suffering from cancer and a grandfather from Brewton, Ala. who leads rescue and recovery missions for missing individuals.
