After review, we’ve determined that your phone is an out-of-date model that will no longer work on the SouthernLINC Wireless network unless it receives immediate attention. In technical terms, your phone needs to be rebanded. You should have received information on phone rebanding earlier in the year via mail and text message. Rebanding is a federal mandate that requires cellular customers to ensure their phones contain an up-to-date band map, which is simply a list of frequencies that make it possible for phones to connect to the network. Your phone does not have the updated band map; in order for it to work again, you need to take action.

We need you to do one of two things. You can either upgrade your mobile phone to one of our current models. Or, you can use our store locator tool on www.southernlinc.com or call Customer Support at 1-800-818-5462 to find the nearest SouthernLINC Wireless store or authorized dealer who can update your phone with the new list of frequencies.

| |
Not necessarily; for those customers who have not yet rebanded, there’s still time for you to get a new, free phone from SouthernLINC Wireless. Just bring your old phone into a SouthernLINC Wireless store or authorized SouthernLINC Wireless dealer to find out what models may be available for free or at a minimal cost. Supplies are limited, so make sure you go to your closest store or dealer right away.

Unfortunately, if you take no action, it will not work. Even though your phone is unusable, you’re still responsible for your monthly service plan expense as stated in the terms of your contract.

After more than seven years of public debate, the (FCC) Federal Communications Commission issued a rebanding order for the 800 MHz band that is intended to solve a public safety interference problem. In early 2006, SouthernLINC Wireless began operating in a different portion of the 800 MHz band, which meant most of our customers had to make sure their phones are equipped with the new band map. Since that time, we’ve been contacting customers and encouraging them to update their phone’s “band map.”
